Blog = Web + Log

Hi Everyone!  And by everyone, I mean, the 2 people who might actually read this blog!

So, it seems like these days  everyone and their mother has a blog, so I guess it’s time for me to jump on the blogwagen (blog + bandwagen).  Actually, if my mom got a blog, I’d be really scared…I mean, her getting Facebook was bad enough!  I’m starting this blog as a brain dump for my word nerdiness, so there’s a good chance that most of my posts will be about my word-related passion – creating portmanteaux.  Portmanteaux are word combinations, such as brunch (breakfast + lunch) and smog (smoke + fog), and for some crazy reason, I freakin’ love them.  Even more than I like using existing ones, I like creating my own.  So much so, in fact, that I’m creating a website where people can submit and rank each others’ portmanteaux.  Hey, I warned you that I’m a word nerd.

Anyway, about me – I’m a word nerd, a phonerd (phone nerd), an IT nerd (by trade), and a ping pong nerd, if that exists.  I’ve been living near and working in Hartford, CT for the past 3 years since graduating from RPI, and definitely still consider New Jersey home sweet home.
